Responsible Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Collection & Recycling
Guaranteed compliance with the WEEE Directive, related hazardous waste regulations & The Data Protection Act
At Green Magnet, we have provided UK based companies and organisations with a collection and recycling service for unwanted computer and telecoms related business equipment (WEEE) since 2005.
Green Magnet is a Licensed Waste Carrier and we operate a ZERO EXPORT policy.
Once collected, we carry out a data wipe on all hard disk drives.
We are able to provide various levels of Data wiping from a 7-pass disk overwrite and zero-fill procedure to cover client Duty of Care (included in the collection costs), through to Secure Data Destruction processes that are approved to MoD / HM Government / CESG standards utilising data security products.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We individually assess each item for recycling potential using the following grading method:
· Original Intended Use
· Component Separation
· Base Materials Recovery
By considering every possible option we are able to recycle just about everything we collect, resulting in a consistent recovery rate of around 98%.
Unsure of your obligations?
Green Magnet works to stay one step ahead of our competition and offer our clients solutions to business issues before they become problems. In line with this, we have developed an IT collection and recycling service to help companies ensure that they comply with the Government’s WEEE Directive (The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive).
The WEEE Directive came into effect in 2006 and requires all businesses which use electrical and electronic equipment to comply with the regulations therein.
The primary aim of the Directive is to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by increasing re-use and recycling of obsolete or unwanted IT equipment, and by reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill.
At a practical level, this means that businesses must now store, collect, treat, recycle and dispose of WEEE separately from other waste. Furthermore, all companies must obtain and keep proof that their electrical and electronic waste has been treated and disposed of in an environmentally sound way.
Green Magnet has been assisting clients to comply with the WEEE Directive since 2005. We recognise that each recycling and re-use project is unique and therefore requires a customer and project specific solution. Please contact us to discuss your collection and recycling needs.
